For this project I led a team to assess the carbon capture and storage of aquatic habitats (from bottomland hardwoods to swamps to salt marshes) in Louisiana to understand how these potential natural carbon sinks can inform policy decisions to help meet the greenhouse gas reduction goals of the Governor of Louisiana for years 2025, 2030, and 2050.

Conducting a literature review and data synthesis including using landscape level model output from the 2017 Coastal Master Plan to determine future areas of habitat to predict potential carbon sinks and the climate mitigation potential of Louisiana’s coastal area.
